Point of Sales
A desktop point-of-sale application for retail sales and billing. It handles product checkout, cart management, invoicing, and sales tracking, and runs fully offline as a local desktop app — so a shop can keep selling even without an internet connection.
The brief
The goal was a straightforward point-of-sale tool for retail sales and billing that a shop can run on a local machine. It needed to cover the whole counter workflow: ringing up products, managing a cart, producing an invoice, and keeping a record of sales.
Because shops often deal with unreliable connections, the application had to work fully offline instead of depending on a hosted service.
I built it with Python and Django, then packaged it so it runs as a local desktop application.

What I built
I built the application around the day-to-day realities of a sales counter, keeping the flow fast and the screen focused.
- Product checkout, with a searchable product list for quick selection at the counter.
- Cart management for adding, adjusting, and removing line items before payment.
- Invoicing that turns a completed sale into a clear, printable record.
- Sales tracking that keeps a running history of transactions for review and reporting.
- Offline operation, so the application works as a local desktop app with no internet dependency.
Built for the counter, not the cloud
The core requirement was reliability without a network. The application stores its data locally and runs directly on the machine, which keeps the checkout flow responsive and removes a whole class of connection failures from the selling process.
From sale to record
Each completed checkout produces an invoice, and the sales history builds up over time. That gives the shop a usable record of what was sold without needing a separate system.
